Responsive design as an ability of the site to be displayed on screens of different sizes, is a common practice these days. According to Jason opinion, RWD shouldn’t be considered as a apart of design, as it is. The viability of a site depends not only on its visual presentation. A set of media queries for optimizing site’s layout for various screen resolutions is not enough. A number of other factors should be taken into consideration: weights of a page, image sizes, network speeds, etc.
One more interesting point of the discussion is performance. It plays the key role in user’s attitude to the site. The audience will never use a site with bad performance in spite of its visually effective design and good UX.
