10 Years of WordPress & Automattic Birthday [Infographics]

This summer WordPress and Automattic, its parent company, celebrate the 10th anniversary. 10 years of blogging is a great date and it’s worth singing millions of happy birthday songs worldwide and even raising glasses in congratulations. "WordPress Birthday Infographics" is our way to say these creative guys "happy B-day" and wish impressive results in the nearest future.

WordPress was founded by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little as an open source project in 2003 and went operational in 2005. In the same year Matt Mullenweg formed a company Automattic - a web development corporation most notable for WordPress.com. The most accurate definition of this company is given by its team – "we are people behind WordPress".

Ten years have passed and today Automattic is proud of 2.5 bln posts, 3 bln comments, 2.3 mln support messages (see more in the infographics below). Among its strongest projects you can find Jetpack, Cloudup, WooCommerce, Akismet, Simplenote, VaultPress, Gravatar, Polldaddy, Longreads, Simperium. Automattic has built an A-class publishing platform providing help for all those independent publishers, bloggers, and business owners.

Today WordPress turns out to be the most beloved CMS platform. Its amazing community of users and developers numbers in the millions of people from various business spheres: writers, photographers, artists, publishers, entrepreneurs. 24 percent of all websites are either hosted on WordPress.com or use the WordPress open-source software.

We hope, that these first 10 years are just the beginning, and all the best of WordPress & Automattic is coming.

Keep it up, guys!
