How To Start a Profitable Jewelry Business? A Real Story of Young and Ambitious Entrepreneur
Who has never dreamt of owning an own business in their early 30’s?
For John Paul, the founder of “Jsilver” jewelry company, this dream was meant to become a reality. How It All Started
I used to work as a manager at a jewelry factory; a while later started my job in a wholesale company. It was the time that I got some practical experience and figured out how the business works. Once the production process is settled, a must-do thing is creating the company’s eCommerce store. I always pay huge attention to my website, and there is a reasonable explanation for that. First, this is a step to demonstrate yourself as a reliable brand whether it’s a corporate website, eCommerce platform or even a blog. Doesn't matter.
Nonetheless, here is a catch. Your website will not work unless you are already confident in your product and it has at least some demand on the market.
My brand was already known, and I felt like people trusted me. Yes, my clientele is way lower than those of large chain jewelry brands like Tiffany or Pandora. But what I know for sure is that the quality of my products was no different from theirs.
Having an online store will help you solve a lot of tasks at once. It automates the sales process and serves as an online storefront for the entire range of products. Also, it helps to organize the inventory & product availability. And let’s not forget that it’s a great marketing tool for sales and increasing customer loyalty. Finally, you will be able to analyze the shown online sales indicators and manage the entire business systematically.
What are the Costs for Opening a Website?
In any business, including jewelry production, costs of running an online store vary from your own choices of cheaper or more expensive services. Here are your necessities that can be either free, inexpensive or super costly:
- Domain + hosting;
- Creating an online store using a free website builder (with a paid subscription), a ready-made website template or service of an individual web-designer;
- Filling your store with products;
- Hiring a copywriter to fill in the website with high-quality text content;
- Costs for advertising and promotion;
- Mobile & Internet costs.
Even it’s a standard pack for every business to create a site; it’s not everything you’ll have on the list. You may end up spending twice as much of what you planned. It’s like when they say you have to double your planned budget for a house remodeling. Suddenly, you’ll need to order an unplanned banner design for your promotion campaign.
